The SFC women’s volleyball team lost their match against the Manhattan Jaspers in straight sets.
The first set was a constant back and forth battle between the two sides with Slavica Stefanovic and and Naomi Flinders of the St. Francis Terriers setting the ladies up time and time again.
The final score was 25-11 Manhattan. But the Lady Terriers weren’t going down easily.
Slavica Stefanovic, Jillian Tracy and Leah Zitting were relentless in their blocking. Manhattan struggled to regain their composure.
Despite their best efforts the second set was close, but SFC lost it 25-23 to Manhattan.
During the third and final set, SFC freshman Kelly O’Halloran brought her powerful serves to the game. Both resulting in points for St. Francis.
The final set saw Manhattan College win 25-10 and hand the Terriers the loss.
Head coach Micah Acoba said, “We came out strong in the second game and really showed that we could play. We just have to carry that sort of effort and intensity from the first point of the match and carry it until the last point of the match.”
“That’s one thing we really work on. We have to work on our mental toughness so that we always have that sort of intensity throughout the match,” said Acoba.
You can watch the women’s volleyball team continue their season on September 22 and 1 pm against Central Connecticut State University in the Genovesi Center.
