Final- Terriers fall short to Bryant University 61-58. The Terriers are now 12-4 overall and 4-2 when they play NEC conference teams.
Recap: This was an ugly game for both teams. Neither team was shooting the ball well.
The lady Terriers shot 34.9% from the field. Junior guard Eilidh Simpson is usually the Terriers main source of offense but tonight she couldn’t get anything going.
Eilidh shot 4-13 from the field and only scored 8 points. But when one player isn’t playing her best the Terriers usually have someone else step up.
That wasn’t the case tonight. Sophomore guard Leah Fechko and Junior forward Sarah Benedetti shot a combined 4-21 from the field.
The Terriers were able to keep the game close because of two players. Junior forward Jaymee Veney scored 13 points and grab 6 rebounds in 20 minutes of game play.
Then there was Senior guard Jasmine Robinson who finished with 13 points and 6 rebounds. The Terriers can’t not win with only two players scoring.
As a team the Terriers were 5-25 from beyond the arc. Tonight was not their night.
It was an odd game the Bryant Bulldogs did not play well offensively at all. The team shot 29.3% from the field.
The Bulldogs won this game by grabbing rebounds and getting to the foul line. This team is known for getting a lot of rebounds.
In tonight’s game the Bulldogs had 60 rebounds and 24 of them were from the offensive side. Senior forward Naana Ankoma-Mensa hauled in 18 rebounds and scored 9 points.
She was one point shy from having a double-double. Naana was not the only rebounding machine.
Sophomore guard Breanna Rucker finished with 16 rebounds and 7 points.
The Bulldogs may have shot poorly as a team but they still had two players score in double-digit points.
The Terriers could have won this game but they kept sending the Bulldogs to the foul-line.
The Bulldogs were 24-33 from the free throw line.
After tonight’s game the Terriers fall to third place in the NEC conference. They are now one game behind Bryant University and Robert Morris.
The lady Terriers next game will be Saturday at one o’clock and they will take on Central Connecticut University.
