The St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers women’s volleyball team (1-3) is on the road to Lawrenceville, NJ for their match against the (1-2) Rider University Broncs tonight.

The Terriers were 1-1 in Friday’s season-opening doubleheader, falling 2-3 to the Siena College Saints and shutting out the Norfolk State University Spartans in three sets.

A second double header followed on Saturday and the Terriers dropped both matches, 2-3 to the University of Maryland Baltimore County Retrievers and 0-3 to the Radford University Highlanders.

The Broncs also went 1-1 in their double header on Friday to start the season. They defeated the Hartford University Hawks 3-2 in their first match, but dropped their second one 1-3 to the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights.

In their Saturday match against the Bryant University Bulldogs, the Broncs fell 0-3.

The Terriers have hit 12.8 percent this season, recording 138 kills, 183 digs, 135 assists, and 17 aces. They have made 79 attack errors and 37 serve errors so far. The Broncs have hit 13.6 percent, accumulating 114 kills, 149 digs, 108 assists and 19 aces. They have made 62 attack errors and 27 serve errors.

The two teams last met on September 19, 2015 and the Broncs dominated the Terriers 3-0.

Terriers senior outside hitter Domenique Gerard has had a successful start to her final season, hitting 14.2 percent en route to 35 kills and 29 digs. Senior middle hitter Niehely Sosa has hit 24.7 percent, accumulating 34 kills and nine digs.

Senior outside hitter Milica Mladjenovic has hit 8.2 percent, recording 21 kills and 22 digs.

Senior middle hitter Kaitlyn Griffin is the strongest player on the Broncs this season. She has hit 24.1 percent en route to 32 points, 24 kills and six digs. Senior outside hitter Ryan Ackerman has hit 14 percent, recording 28 points, 22 kills and 13 digs.

Sophomore outside hitter Savannah Logan has been successful in the first few games of her second season at Rider. She has hit 9.18 percent, accumulating 23 points, 18 kills and 22 digs.

The match will begin at 7 pm in Rider University’s Alumni Gym.
