The (1-0) St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers men’s soccer team will host the (1-0) University of Rhode Island Rams tonight in their home opener.

After a 10-3-5 (3-2-2 NEC) season last year in which they dropped the first match of the NEC Tournament, the Terriers led 1-0 in their first match of the season against the Lafayette College Leopards Friday.

Sophomore midfielder Djiby Sarr scored an unassisted goal with 4:41 left in the second round of overtime to win his first match played on the Terriers.

Terriers senior goalie Seth Erdman recorded five saves and senior forward Yussuf Olajide attempted a team high three shots.

The Rams led their first match 2-1 in double overtime against the Providence College Friars Friday. The team finished 10-8-2 (4-3-1 BEC) last season, falling in their second match of the Atlantic 10 Quarterfinals.

Rams freshman midfielder Solvi Palsson scored a goal 6:19 into the match. While tied 1-1 in the 109th minute, junior midfielder/forward Ryan Bailey scored the game-winning goal.

Rams junior goalie Nils Leifhelm recorded seven saves on Friday night.

The match between the Terriers and Rams will begin at 7 pm at Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 5. Live streaming will be available via NEC Front Row.
