Sunday afternoon the St. Francis Brooklyn Men’s Basketball Team (12-16, 6-10) fell the Wagner Seahawks (8-19, 5-11) by a score of 71-75 in extra-time. After being defeated by the Seahawks, the Terriers fell from seventh to ninth place in the NEC. To have a chance at qualifying for the playoffs, they must win their two remaining games.

Inside the Pope Physical Education Center, the Seahawks outscored the Terriers in the first half 37-31. Working their way back, the Terriers would record 27 points in the second half limiting the Seahawks to 21. They would tie the contest at 58-58 at the end of regular. Seahawks Patrick Szpir and Will Martinez were fouled out late in the second half as they tallied five personal fouls each.

With an extra five minutes on the clock, over-time began. The Seahawks edged the Terriers as they went on a 17-13 run taking the contest 71-75.

Top performers from the Seahawks were Elijah Ford, Alex Morales, Chase Freeman, and Tyrone Nesby IV.

Junior guard Elijah Ford finished with 22 points in 43 minutes of play. He grabbed eight rebounds, assisted in four baskets, recorded one steal, and landed eight of 13 shots at the free-throw line.

Junior guard Alex Morales finished with a double-double in 43 minutes. He recorded 21 points, 14 rebounds, scored one of two attempted three-pointers, and landed four of six shots at the free-throw line.

Junior guard Chase Freeman finished with nine points in 42 minutes. He grabbed four rebounds, assisted in three rebounds, scored one of three attempted three-pointers and landed two perfect shots at the free-throw line.

Sophomore Tyrone Nesby IV finished with eight points in 45 minutes of play. He grabbed four rebounds, assisted in two baskets, recorded one steal and scored two if eight attempted three-pointers.

From the Terriers, top performers were Chauncey Hawkins, Deniz Celen, Rob Higgins, Milija Cosic, and Unique McLean.

Junior guard Chauncey Hawkins finished with 22 points in 42 minutes. He grabbed five rebounds, assisted in six baskets, recorded three steals, scored one of four attempted three-pointers, and landed nine of 11 shots at the free-throw line.

Senior forward Deniz Celen finished with a double-double in 38 minutes. He recorded 20 points, a career-high of 12 rebounds, two blocks, scored one three-pointer and landed five of seven shots at the free-throw line.

Freshman Rob Higgins finished with 12 points in 45 minutes. He grabbed two rebounds, assisted in one basket, recorded three steals, scored one of seven attempted three-pointers, and landed three perfect shots at the free-throw line.

Senior forward Milija Cosic finished with nine points in 27 minutes. He grabbed five rebounds, recorded one steal, scored two of five attempted three-pointers, and landed one of two shots at the free-throw line.

Graduate guard Unique McLean finished with six points in 35 minutes. He grabbed 11 rebounds, assisted in one basket, and recorded one block.

The Terriers will be back in action on Thursday, February 27, as they take on the Sacred Heart Pioneers in Fairfield, CT. Game tips off at 7 p.m.
