Sunday afternoon the St. Francis Brooklyn Women’s Basketball Team (8-18, 4-11) was defeated by the Wagner Seahawks (10-16- 6-9) by a score of 53-74. With three games remaining, the Terriers currently lie in 10th place in the NEC. They must win all three games for a chance to qualify for the NEC playoffs.
Inside the Pope Physical Education Center, the Terriers took the first quarter 19-21. However, in the second quarter, the Seahawks recorded 21 points limiting the Terriers to seven. In the third and fourth the Seahawks extended their lead outscoring the Terriers in both quarters to take the contest with a 21-point lead, 53-74.
Top performers from the Seahawks were Emilija Krista Grava, Khaleah Edwards, Janelle Mullen, and Morgan Lenahan.
Sophomore forward Emilija Krista Grava led her team with 22 points in 33 minutes. She grabbed eight rebounds, assisted in five baskets, and landed four perfect shots at the free-throw line.
Junior guard/forward Khaleah Edwards finished with 21 points in 40 minutes. She grabbed four rebounds, assisted in three baskets, recorded three steals and scored five of 10 attempted three-pointers.
Redshirt senior guard Janelle Mullen finished with 19 points in 35 minutes. She grabbed six rebounds, recorded one block and three steals, and scored three of five attempted three-pointers.
Redshirt senior guard Morgan Lenahan finished with seven points in 23 minutes. She grabbed six rebounds, assisted in three baskets, recorded two steals, and scored a lonesome shot at the free-throw line.
From the Terriers, top performers were Ally Lassen, Nevena Dimitrijevic, Abby Anderson, and Alyssa Fisher.
Junior forward Ally Lassen recorded 15 points in 32 minutes. She also grabbed eight rebounds, recorded one steal, and landed three of five shots at the free-throw line.
Freshman guard Nevena Dimitrijevic finished with 11 points in 35 minutes. She grabbed one rebound, assisted in three baskets, scored one of five attempted three-pointers, and landed two perfect shots at the free-throw line.
Junior forward Abby Anderson tallied nine points in 29 minutes. She grabbed five rebounds, assisted in one basket, recorded two steals, and landed seven shots at the free-throw line.
Freshman guard Alyssa Fisher finished with seven points in 21 minutes. She grabbed four rebounds, recorded one steal, and scored one of two attempted three-pointers.
The Terriers will be back in action on Saturday, February 29, as they take on the Sacred Heart Pioneers at the William H. Pitt Center in Fairfield, CT. Game tips off at 1 p.m.
