Final- Terriers get their second straight win as they beat the FDU Knights 67-51. The Terriers are now 15-6 overall and 6-4 against NEC teams.
Recap- Terriers got a much needed win tonight. The defense was able to control the three ball.
The FDU Knights were 2-15 from the beyond the arc. As a team they struggled to get anything going offensively.
From the field the Knights were 17 for 58. Tonight the Terriers defense was at it’s best forcing the Knights to take unbalanced shots.
After dropping 17 points in her last game Terriers Junior forward Sarah Benedetti continued her hot streak tonight by scoring a season high 21 points. She was 7-14 from the field and 3-7 from behind the three point line.
Sarah wasn’t the only Terrier that played well tonight.
Sophomore guard Leah Fechko and Junior forward Jamyee Veney were able to record a double-double tonight. Leah with 17 points and 10 rebound and Jaymee with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Knights have now lost 16 games in row. Despite tonight’s loss they still had two player score in double digits.
It was Sophomore guard Kelsey Cruz and Senior Forward Desiree Crawford that kept game close for the Knights.
Desiree put up 17 points and 9 rebounds. Kelsey had a team high 18 points and 5 rebounds. It has been a tough season for the Knights.
As of tonight the Terriers are tied for fourth place in NEC standings. They will need to keep the momentum going in these final eight games.
Terriers kick off their four game road trip this Saturday. They will take on Robert Morris University at 4pm.
Halftime: The Terriers lead the FDU Knights by one 30-29 after the first half.
Recap: After the first half both the Terriers and the FDU Knights are about even. Neither team can hold a solid lead.
They are both struggling from behind the three point line. The Terriers are 3-11 from beyond the arc.
As for the Knights they are shooting 1-7 from the three point line.
It has been quiet first half for Terriers Junior guard Eilidh Simpson. She has only one point.
Junior forward Sarah Benedetti has kept the Terriers in the game she has a team high 10 points. She is shooting 4-9 from the field.
If Terriers want to win this game they need to limit their turnovers and find a way to stop FDU Knights Sophomore guard Kelsey Cruz.
She leads the FDU Knights with 13 points and 4 rebounds. Senior forward Desiree Crawford has also been a problem for the Terriers.
The 5’11 forward has 11 points and 4 rebounds.
In the second half the Terriers will need Eilidh Simpson to get things going.
