Senior middle hitter Niehely Sosa scored a match-high 12.5 points Sunday as the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers women’s volleyball team fell to the Bryant Bulldogs in three sets.

domandnieghelyThe Terriers lost 25-19 in the first set and 25-18 in the final two sets, falling to (8-20, 3-9 NEC). Their opponent improved to (18-13, 9-3 NEC).

The women also took a 3-0 hit from the Bulldogs on October 18.

The Terriers dished out 25 kills, 27 digs and 23 assists in the hard fought effort. The home team accumulated 44 kills, 41 digs and 38 assists.

Sosa accumulated 10 kills en route to her match-high scoring. The senior – who has been a major contributor to the Terriers’ best season in six years — has racked up 173 kills and 51 digs since late August and has scored high in the team’s defeats against the Fordham Rams, Lafayette Leopards and Fairleigh Dickinson Knights.

Junior outside hitter Aleksandra Gligoric recorded 9.5 points, seven kills and three digs, while senior outside hitter Domenique Gerard added seven points, five kills and three digs.

Senior outside hitter Milica Mladjenovic accumulated a match-high 20 assists.

Bulldogs senior outside hitter Sara DePouw was the main player behind her team’s success. The 6’0 senior recorded 13 points, 11 kills and two digs, while freshman middle blocker Sydney Gorski assisted her with 9.5 points and nine kills.

Sophomore setter Kristyn Sperry scored 9.5 points for the Bulldogs as she added 13 assists.

Senior setter Vika Katzen gave the Bulldogs 22 assists, six kills and six digs.

The Terriers have two matches reaming in the 2016 season. They will face the (13-5, 7-5 NEC) Robert Morris Colonials Saturday and the (5-20, 1-11 NEC) Saint Francis PA Red Flash next Sunday.

The Terriers fell 3-1 to Robert Morris earlier this season, but shut out Saint Francis on October 9.

The Terriers will host Robert Morris at 1 pm.
