Museum of Arts and Design Director Glenn Adamson will speak at St. Francis College on Monday, February 29 as a part of the Thomas J. Volpe Lecture series.
The Museum of Arts and Design, located at 2 Columbus Circle in Manhattan, showcases both contemporary and historic objects from the fields of craft, art and design.
Adamson and his team work to show the public the importance of these fields, focusing on the artistic process from conception to product.
Adamson previously worked as the head of Research at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum. There, he participated in educational programming, media relations, and more. He also curated exhibitions including the 2011 exhibition Postmodernism: Style and Subversion 1970 to 1990.
Esteemed in the field of arts and design, he has published many books. He is the founding co-editor of the Journal of Modern Craft.
This lecture is the next in the Thomas J. Volpe Lecture series. The series, with funding from Board of Turstees Chairman Emeritus Thomas J. Volpe, aims to connect students with esteemed speakers in a variety of fields.
This year’s guests have included Brooklyn Brewery founder Steve Hindy and NBA Assistant Coach Becky Hammon.
Adamson will speak in Founders Hall from 12:30 to 2:00 pm.
The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis at the St. Francis College Concierge desk.
