Preview: The St. Francis Brooklyn men’s basketball team gets prepared for their close up tonight as they will take on Bryant University on ESPN 3.
The Terriers will try to bounce back tonight after losing in the final seconds of overtime to number one seed Robert Morris University 71-70.
Even with Saturday’s loss the Terriers were still able to clinch a playoffs spot for the NEC tournament.
It will be the second time this year the Terriers will take on the Bryant Bulldogs. In their first matchup the Bulldogs beat the Terriers 83-79.
The Terriers struggled from the foul-line only hitting 17 of 32. Senior guard Ben Mockford did not play to his usual standards.
Mockford scored 17 points but was 6-20 from the field. The Bulldogs did a great job containing junior forward Jalen Cannon.
Cannon finished the game scoring 9 points. The only bright spot for the Terriers was junior guard Brent Jones.
Jones scored a team high 20 points and was 7-12 from the field. The biggest concern for the Terriers tonight is Bulldogs junior guard Dyami Starks.
Starks ripped a part the Terreirs defense dropping a game high 31 points. He wasn’t the only Bulldog player to have his way with the Terriers.
Senior forward Alex Francis put up a double-double.
He finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds. The Terriers will need to keep a big man on Francis at all times.
Right now the Terriers are tied for fifth place with St. Francis University. There will be a tie for fourth place with a Terriers win and Mount St. Mary’s loss.
Tonight the Terriers should focus on finishing the season strong so they can get a better spot in the playoffs.
