St. Clare & St. Francis Week begins Thursday in celebration of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.

Honoring the legacy of the college’s patron saint and his beloved friend St. Clare, this week of celebration is an annual staple for St. Francis College and its surrounding community.

Each year, events are guided by a single theme. Last year’s theme, “Care for Creation,” taught students how to be respectful of their surroundings. This year’s theme of “Mercy” serves as a way to integrate the Jubilee Year of Mercy called for by Pope Francis.

Following a kick-off party in the St. Francis Cafeteria Thursday during activity period, events will start with a Cookie Hour honoring Lady Jacoba on Monday, October 3rd from 10-12am. Immediately following the cookie hour, there will be a theatrical staging of the passing of St. Francis in Founders Hall.

Other highlights include a Feast of St. Francis Mass on October 4th at 12:30, as well as an Interfaith Panel on October 5th at 12:20.

The week winds down with a special lecture Thursday during activity period discussing how Franciscan values influence the St. Francis College community. Festivities conclude with the popular Blessing of the Animals on Friday the 7th.
