Is Obama a one-term president?

What was once a mere thought might be turning into a reality for the United States. There are people telling President Obama to keep the change; they have had enough, along with his vision of hope.

Obama2Obama's approval rating is down and our economy doesn’t seem to be getting any better as we watched the Dow Jones fall a whopping 240 points on Friday. It seems that Republicans believe one of their candidates could defeat President Obama.

Will Obama be a one-term President? Has his campaign for “hope” become hopeless?

It’s sadly starting to look this way but looks can be deceiving.

“I’d rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president,” President Obama confessed to ABC News’ Diane Sawyer last year.

Contrary to what Republicans and the Tea Party movement believe, President Obama has been developing a number of changes.

Once thrown into the fire of the 2008 financial crisis and our overall crippled country, Obama acted as a leader and took action.

President Obama signed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the biggest financial reform law since the Great Depression, and a message to Wall Street that he wasn’t playing around. This action was one of the steps taken to regulate our financial system more efficiently. It was definitely necessary.

Obama also called for Congress to pass legislation to reform health care in the United States. His goal was to expand health insurance coverage to cover the uninsured. Obama's plan was to spend $ 900 billion over 10 years and include a public option that would compete with other insurance companies. On November 7, 2009, a health care bill with the public option was passed. Obama signed the bill into law on March 23, 2010. This was a proud day for millions of Americans without health insurance.

Obama's reaction to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill was in record time. He began a federal investigation and formed a bipartisan commission to recommend new safety standards. On May 27, 2010 he announced a 6-month plan on new deepwater drilling permits and leases.

A month later the death of Osama Bin Laden was announced. Obama ordered the operation to take place on May 1, 2011 and ended with the death of Bin Laden, whose body was identified through DNA testing. This boosted the president’s approval rating generously.

When one looks at Obama's presidency from this point of view, it is hard to believe that the American people would drop him so quickly and jump on the bandwagon of Republican candidates like Michelle Bachmann, Mitt Romney, or even Rick Perry.Obama1

Michele Bachmann firmly states that she’s skeptical of global warming and has even gone as far as to say it’s a hoax. Bachmann said: "Carbon dioxide is not a harmful gas, it is a harmless gas. Carbon dioxide is natural; it is not harmful.... We're being told we have to reduce this natural substance.. to create an arbitrary reduction in something that is naturally occurring in the earth.” This ignorance is overwhelming and her following is under 10 percent.

Is she really a threat?

There is a new liberal generation of voters, and they may not stand for ignorance or candidates who allow their religion to constitute the way they carry out their duties. I believe that the American people will not vote for Mitt Romney as long as he continues to be affiliated with the LDS church, also known as the Mormon Church.

Studies conducted in the 2008 primaries showed that throughout the United States there is an overall negative perception of Mormons. This conscious dislike, and maybe subconscious in others, will most definitely prove to be a major factor in Mitt Romney being a successful candidate for president.

In the past, one-term presidents usually end up leaving with political parties divided, the entire economy in crisis, and overall dislike from the public. I don’t know what the future holds but right now it doesn’t seem this way.

Obama has accomplished significant goals and all of that cannot be erased by a bad approval rating, especially with the terrible competition that Republicans are displaying.

Unless Reagan is reincarnated Republicans are really going to have to step up their game if they’re going to boot President Obama.
