Aniah Ferguson, 16, was arrested and charged on Thursday for the alleged beating of a 15-year-old girl at a McDonald’s on Flatbush Avenue on Monday.
beatAs the girl was beaten, dozens watched and recorded the incident and a large group of other teenagers joined in. Nobody tried to help her, according to police.
Ferguson is seen in a video stomping on the girl’s head after she had gone limp.
She has been charged with robbery and gang assault, as an adult, authorities said.
The victim, who attends Erasmus Hall High School was hospitalized for severe trauma, according to authorities.
In the video, the victim was seen being sat down in a chair, but could not hold her own body up because of her injuries.
One of the people watching yelled, “Yo, shes dead. It’s a murder,” according to the New York Daily News.
It was not clear why the girl was assaulted.
Ferguson is known to have behavioral problems and a long rap sheet. Last month, she was charged for stabbing her brother with a knife, according to officials.
Ferguson was arrested six times since she turned 16 in July, the New York Daily News reported.
The suspect’s mother, who did not give her name, expressed her anger about the situation.
“I’m her mother and I’m not defending her,” she said according to the New York Daily News. “I didn’t raise her like this. I don’t know why she did it.”
None of the other teens involved have been charged.
Ferguson is expected to appear in court on Friday.
“That type of behavior is not acceptable in society and is certainly not going to be acceptable here in New York,” NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton said according to the New York Daily News.
