Good hair is what works for you

On January 27, the Haitian American Student Association (HASA) will be hosting "What Works," a discussion on various African-American hair types and textures.
Good HairThe concept of "good hair" and "bad hair" has been controversial, especially among African-Americans.

There are a number of myths and stories associated with the concept of "good hair." If there is "bad hair," who has it and what makes it so bad?

Members of HASA believe that there is no such thing as bad hair. In the discussion, "What Works," students will discuss topics such as why many have considered coarse hair to be "bad," and talk about products for various hair types.

This will also be a time for women to come together and discuss hair choices such as going natural, perming and weaving. Members of HASA hope that this discussion can enable more women to be comfortable about any decisions they make about their hair.

Listening and understanding young women within the student body may change the general thought process and allow other students to have an open mind in regard to hair.

The event will take place from 4-6pm in room 4202. Refreshments will be served.
