The NEC Council of Presidents announced a new postponement regarding the restart of all fall sports athletics competition and championships, with an agreement to reconvene again by October 1, with new updates and evaluations.
The Council had previously set September 10 as the start date for both conference and non-conference competition.
However, the evolving health crisis data forced the Council to reevaluate its guidance and announce a new delay in the return of fall sports.
The postponement specifically applies to men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, football, men’s and women’s soccer and women’s volleyball, as well as all other NEC sports scheduled to engage in competition this fall.
The release also states that opportunities for practice and athletic training
will be “made available at each institution’s discretion in adherence with conference protocols and NCAA rules, along with campus, local and state health and safety guidelines.”
