On Friday, Nov. 16, St. Francis College offered their facilities to film Delivery Man — a comedy film featuring Vince Vaughn written and directed by Ken Scott.
Vaughn plays middle-aged man whose life is changed forever when he finds out he is fathering 533 children through a sperm donation. He meets his children throughout the film but never reveals his identity.
The filming will take place in the SFC Aquatic Center and the Callahan Center. The film crew began the prep work for the set last night. Today, the crew included approximately 90 members as well as 90 extras. Shooting began at 6 a.m. and is estimated to finish around 2 a.m.
The facilities of St. Francis College certainty got a makeover for the shoot. The lobby has a sign that reads “Green Point Hospital.” The pool has all of the St. Francis College signs covered and the diving board has been prepared for stunt in the movie.
Rob Oliva, Director of Community Partnerships and Special Events, and his special events staff has ensured that the filming runs smoothly. The filming has not conflicted with classes or any other events being held at the college today including the women’s basketball game tonight at 7 p.m. in the Pope Physical Education Center.
The only potential inconvenience for the students and staff occurs after 5 p.m. when the school will shut down the main entrance. School members can enter the building through the gold entrance, which is located next to the main entrance.
“It is very exciting around the college — that television shows and motion pictures are using the college as a site for filming,” said Oliva.
This is not the first time St. Francis College has opened its doors to a film crew, during the fall of 2010 – CW hit show Gossip Girl filmed scenes in the second floor Anita and Thomas J. Volpe Lounge.
Delivery Man hits theaters on Oct. 4, 2013.
