The St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers men’s basketball team (0-2) will head to Rhode Island to face the (2-1) Providence College Friars tomorrow.
GlennSanabriaStFrancisNewYorkvLouisvilleeSukOBpcZkvl 1After finishing (15-17, 11-7 NEC) last season and dropping the NEC Quarterfinal game, the Terriers started their 2016-2017 season with two losses, falling 86-61 to the North Carolina State Wolfpack and 72-32 to the Virginia Cavaliers.
Redshirt sophomore guard Glenn Sanabria led the first two games after his return from an injury. He scored 14 points on 4-for-5 free throws in the season opener and netted 10 points on 4-for-11 field goals in the Virginia game.
The Friars – who were (24-11, 10-8 BEC) last season and made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament — come from a 71-54 victory over the Gambling State Tigers. Junior forwards Rodney Bullock and Emmitt Holt led in scoring en route to the Friars’ win.
Holt netted 18 points, while adding six rebounds and three assists. Another 17 points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block came from Holt.
Terriers senior guard Yunus Hopkinson recorded a combined 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists in his first two games.
Freshman guard Rasheem Dunn put another 14 points on the board in the first two games of his collegiate career.
Bullock has scored 63 points in four games for the Friars, while also adding 18 rebounds, five assists, three blocks and three steals.
Holt has recorded another 50 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, four blocks and three steals.
The Terriers and Friars will tip off in Providence College’s Begley Arena at 6:30 pm.
