Brooklyn Bridge Park is constructing a marina that is slated to be completed by the end of the fall and open this spring.
ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina – which will be between Piers 4 and 5 – will have a sailing school, community dock and members-only Harbor Club.
“We identified the perfect opportunity in Brooklyn with the vibrant, lush public spaces of Brooklyn Bridge Park and Manhattan skyline backdrop to open the water itself there to NYC,” Arthur Tay, chairman of SUTL Corporation — the company behind the project — said in a statement.
It will welcome boats measuring 16 feet to 250 feet.
Membership will start at $1,000 a year and an unlimited sailing membership will cost $2,900.
The marina’s community partners are developing a program that will offer free and affordable boating at the community dock.
“This marina with its robust free and low cost programming, makes the waterfront accessible in new ways to even more New Yorkers and puts Brooklyn on the map for the global boating community,” Brooklyn Bridge Park President Regina Myer said in a statement.
Amenities will include a concierge and top-notch security.
It’s the first marina to be built in the city in 20 years and will be one of the largest, SUTL Corporation – who is behind the project — said.
“In New York City we are surrounded by water yet there are so few opportunities to interact with the harbor,” Myer said.
The park submitted a Request for Proposals for a marina in 2013.
SUTL is known for building ONE°15 Marina Club Singapore, a luxury Marina that has won several awards.
