As soon as you thought that it would be impossible to break more records with only three games left of the season, I suggest you to think once again. In Yesterday’s matchup against Bryant University, Junior star Jade Johnson tied Karen Erving-Shiera for 2nd in points scored and passed Katja Bavendam for 9th place in field goals made in a single season.
On a free throw attempt with 3:32 remaining in the 4th quarter, Jade scored her 566th point to tie Erving-Shiera for 2nd place on the scoring list. Erving-Shiera scored her 566th point during the 1990-91 season. With a game coming up tomorrow against Mount St. Mary’s, Johnson will only need one more point to make her officially 2nd on that list.
Even way before tying in 2nd for points in a single season, Johnson ended up in 9th for fields goals made in a single season with 181. The 181st field goal was made during a pull-up jumper late in the first quarter. Katja Bavendam was the player who Johnson passed who recored 180 field goals back in the 2006-07 season.
There are two games remaining for the St. Francis women’s basketball team this season, which means that there is still time for Johnson to tie or become the 1st place player to score the most points in one season. The current holder is Karen Erving-Shiera, once again, with 591 points scored in the 1988-89 season. Jade only needs 25 more points to tie it and 26 more points to break it.
