1. How did you hear about SFC as a student?
In high school, Karen started her college search based on affordability and location.
She was interested in affordability because “I wanted a school that was able to offer generous scholarships” and location was important to her because “I did not want to stay in Staten Island, but I did not want to go too far either. St. Francis had what I was looking for, and more.”
2. What did you major in?
“Communication Arts – Public Relations and Advertising.”
3. What did you do after graduation?
“I started an internship in Manhattan at a Public Relations firm. I had a great experience, but I felt that something was missing.”
4. How’d you find yourself back at SFC?
“When I was a student, I was also a work-study in the Registrar’s office. After I graduated, I received a call that a different department was hiring and if I was interested in learning more about the position. The rest was history. I am so grateful for that call.”
5. And last but not least, advice for students🙏🏻😇
“Your four years in college will go by fast. There will be plenty of ups and downs, but it’s important to remember to do your best. It sounds cliché, but if you put in hard work and effort into your academics, you will receive the results you deserve. Time management is also important. Find a routine that works best for you and thrive. Last but not least, try to do more than just going to class. Try to participate in clubs and activities. You’ll be able to meet other students, network through new opportunities, and create lifelong relationships.”
