The St. Francis College Troupers welcome all students to the performance of Nancy Hasty's The Director, a play that will premiere on Friday, December 2 at 8PM in Founders Hall.
Other showtimes include Saturday at 3PM and 8PM, and Sunday at 3PM. Tickets are being sold at $5 per person.
The Director was directed by Adjunct Instructor Nick Priore (Communication Arts). It is a funny, suspenseful and entertaining play that will definitely keep the audience on their toes. The play is centered around an unconventional and manipulative director named Peter, and his dealings with five actors who are desparate and distressed.
SFC student Mike Adamo takes on the role of Peter and described his acting experience as, "a welcoming challenge for me. A role like this requires a lot mentally. It can be very exhausting, but rewarding." The play also features SFC students Nicole Donatantonio, Devin LaPierre, and Samantha Nazi.
The story begins when Annie, a playwright, recognizes that a director whose work she admired in college, is working as a janitor in the rehearsal hall in which her play rehearsals take place. Peter does not direct anymore but continues to "study" plays. After some convincing he accepts Annie's offer to direct Riding Out the Storm, a play based on her own life.
Peter warns Annie about his unusual directing style and was sure to inform her that very few actors even consider working with him.
Will Peter's unconventional ways frighten the actors off or will they stay and work in his odd ways? How far will the actors go in order to execute a great performance?
If you love plays that have twists and turns, keep you guessing and have you on the edge of your seat, The Director is the play to see!
