Senior midfielder Salvatore Barone and freshman defender Faouzi Taieb scored a goal each in the Terriers men’s soccer team’s 2-0 defeat over the Saint Francis University Red Flash today.

The Terriers improved to (7-4-2, 3-0 NEC), while the home team fell to the (8-5, 1-1 NEC).

Terriers senior forward Yussuf Olajide attempted to score in the eighth minute, but the shot was blocked.

Red Flash junior defender Jack Webber took a head shot in the 10th minute, but it was saved by Terriers senior keeper Seth Erdman.

Taieb then recorded his second goal of the season with a header in the 14th minute. The goal was assisted by Barone.

Both teams were scoreless for the rest of the first half. The red Flash attempted six shots and the Terriers attempted two, as both teams made foul after foul.

Fouls remained a problem for both teams in the match’s second half.

Barone fit in a goal with 27 seconds remaining in the match. The second point – assisted by freshman forward Grei Muiko – was Barone’s fourth goal of the season.

Barone has now broken his tie with Olajide and leads the Terriers in scoring for the season. He tied the senior forward when he scored his third goal in the George Washington Colonials match on September 28.

The Terriers shot 2-for-11, while their opponent shot 0-for-16.

The keepers on both sides recorded six saves each.

Next up for the Terriers is their Robert Morris Colonials (3-6-2, 0-1-1 NEC) match on Sunday. The two teams will battle in Moon Township, Pennsylvania at 1 pm.
