The St. Francis Brooklyn Men’s Basketball Team (7-7, 1-1) fell to the Robert Morris Colonials (7-9, 3-0) Thursday evening at Moon Township, PA.
The contest began with the Colonials on an 8-0 run (redshirt senior guard Josh Williams scored all eight points). Later, the Terriers on a 4-0 run would cut the lead down to two, 12-14 but the Colonials on a 14-5 run would yet again distance themselves, 17-28. They would end the first half 30-39.
Entering the second half, junior guard Chauncey Hawkins got things going for the Terriers with a good three-pointer off the assist of Yaradyah Evans. However, the Colonials, adding to their lead, went on a 12-4 run taking their lead to double-digits, 37-51. With the same momentum, they went on to win the contest 52-78.
Top performers for the Colonials were Josh Williams, AJ Bramah, Yannis Mendy, Dante Treacy and Jalen Hawkins.
Redshirt senior guard Josh Williams led his team with 20 points in 28 minutes. He grabbed eight rebounds and scored six of eight attempted three-point shots.
Junior guard/forward AJ Bramah recorded16 points in 26 minutes. He grabbed five rebounds, assisted in three baskets and landed four of five free-throw shots.
Senior forward Yannis Mendy finished with 13 points in 24 minutes.
Sophomore guards Dante Treacy and Jalen Hawkins finished with a combined 13 points. Treacy finished with seven points, three rebounds, and five assists in 26 minutes of play. Hawkins finished with six points, and six rebounds in 22 minutes of play.
For the Terriers, graduate guard Unique McLean and freshman guard Rob Higgins led with 11 points. McLean finished with 11 points, and seven rebounds in 29 minutes. Higgins finished with 11 points, and one rebound in 30 minutes.
Senior forward Deniz Celen and junior guard Chauncey Hawkins both tallied seven points. Celen finished with seven points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals in 30 minutes of play. Hawkins finished with seven points, two rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes.
The Terriers will be back in action on Saturday, January 11, at Loretto, PA, as they take on the Saint Francis (PA) Red Flash. Game tips off at 7 p.m.
