Junior forward Ally Lassen, wearing number 31, led the Terriers to their first win in almost a month, logging a career day in their match-up against the Sacred Heart Pioneers last Saturday at the Pope Physical Education Center.
Tallying 27 points to beat her personal best of 24 points on Monday, January 20, against the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers, Lassen recorded another career-high with a whopping 30 points in 36 minutes on Saturday.
At the end of the first half, the Point Pleasant, NJ native had already tallied 24 points. She later went on to tally four more points in the third quarter; with 3:36 remain in the quarter Lassen with a good layup recorded her 28-point beating recently recorded personal best. She was seen smiling with Terriers’ head Coach Linda Cimino after scoring her golden basket.
In the fourth quarter, Lassen added her last two points of the contest finishing with 30 points. She also finished with five rebounds, two assists, recorded a career-high of three blocks, and landed eight of 10 shots at the free-throw line.
In a postgame interview, Lassen said: “It felt great to get the win.”
Coach Cimino commented in the postgame press conference on Lassen’s performance: “Ally was tremendous today; I mean it seemed everything that she threw up in the first went in… and I’m really happy for her. I thought our guards did a good job of getting her the ball in position that she could score,”
Coach Cimino added: “She was strong and confident and it’s fun when good things are happening for people that work really hard, it’s contagious and it gets it going for the rest of the team,” she said: “Today she came out and got us going and she took over the game when she needed to take over the game.”
For the 2019-2020 season thus far, Lassen averages 15.6 points, 1.0 assists, 6.1 rebounds, and 32.5 minutes per game. She has tallied 311 points, seven blocks, 19 assists,121 rebounds, and 103 free-throws.
The Terriers will play the Merrimack Warriors on Monday, February 3, in North Andover, Massachusetts.
